Interviews: WIRD

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Rock band WIRD from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or did it just come out like that?

When coming up with the band name we wanted it to be short and that it could reflect our music and the ideas behind it. The name "Weird" was something that came up instantly. We found out that the name was taken already so we put it down as WIRD from an urban dictionary slang that inhabited the same meaning. 

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

For us alt-rock and grunge music was a choice of music for a long time. We like heavy music with heavy guitars and deep melodies and that just makes us comfortable playing it and it always comes out naturally too.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No, we did not. It was the passion for making music that brought us together.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

For myself, that would be Soundgarden. Austin loves Pear Jam and Kotaro's favorite is King's X.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

That would normally be different feelings that accumulate over time and the need to express it all.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was in London's Engine Rooms a few weeks ago

7. Where would you like to play?

We would like to play in the UK's Rebellion Festival next year.

8. Who would you like to support?

We would love to open up for False Heads.

9. Who not?

I suppose we haven't caught the right moment yet.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

I suppose in the beginning there is always that little excitement mixed with fear about it but in the end if you just focus on the music that you play you just get into the zone and all of the fears just go.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Soundgarden, Placebo, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Failure

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

So far no weird questions occurred yet just words of appreciation.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Anybody that likes and supports our music we feel incredibly grateful to them.

It's a great platform to discover new music and cool bands for sure!
