Track By Tracks: Epic Down - Days Of Oblivion (2024)
1. Twisted perceptions:
The song addresses the developments in our society's dealings with the rapidly changing possibilities of information procurement and the resulting handling and claim to content and value. It describes how starting from a largely value-free concatenation of cause and effect, it can lead to the increasing division of a society with the corresponding side effects.
2. Leave banger:
It is a song that addresses the wind as a fixed element in nature, and as a force of nature sometimes personified by mankind, and plays with a will then imputed to it, which in turn presents itself in the form of a monologue carried by the sound wall as a counter-representation. It is one of the first songs written directly for the album and we really like to play it, not only because of the energy level...
3. Faded legacies:
Was the 2. Single, which was released from the album and is still quite fresh. The text is quite gloomy and dismantles the remains of what has been achieved of an existence stranded in itself in a rather ruthless way. The background of the story and the ambiguous metaphors, which are particularly noticeable in the chorus, are based on real experiences and people and are unfortunately not invented.
3. Days of oblivion:
Was the first published single and is basically a denunciation of the days that you would better delete from your life because everything is totally different than expected and at the end of which you wonder how it only came to this and why you haven’t seen coming it sooner. In our opinion, the song clearly stands out in its mood from the rather gloomy songs and almost conveys a positive vibe. In the overall structure of the album, it fit as somehow wonderfully in the midfield, and in the end the decision to name it as the title track of the album was not really difficult for us.
4. Lords of doom:
This is actually a rather older track, which at least in its essential features already existed before the start of work on the actual album. Thematically, it is a simple ode to the joy of music that we like. Fat, fuzz-soaked guitar riffs from modified tube amplifiers to thundering drum rhythms and the whole thing at feel-good volume... Seriously, who doesn't like that?
5. Downfall of being:
This is one of the rather dark tracks of the album and tells a story about a person who denounces the loss of his own identity as a foreseeable consequence of a downward spiral driven by social framework conditions, criticizes their boredom, and asks the question of a suitable counter-draft.
6. Lone ruler:
This is actually the first lyrics I wrote for Epic Down and was also our first musical release ever. He describes the late insight into the dubious expediency of a path taken and its goal and makes use of a very tangible metaphor. The song means a lot to us and should therefore also be represented on the album. His sound in connection with the compositional construct and the message is virtually representative of our style and playing the song fulfills us every time...“
