Track By Tracks: GHOST:WHALE - DIVE:TWO (2024)

We have recorded this second album in 3 days in a cool studio in Belgium, all songs, and all instruments have been recorded live together in one take with NO overdubs.

In this band you have Vincent on drums, Yves in Bass and samples (who is playing in "'Frau Blucher & Druken horses -> 4 albums, one EP) and me, Lionel (has done P.O.G.O record since 1993, plays in [P.U.T] since 1998 -> 6 albums and +/- 15 EP/LIVE), and Missiles of October -> 2 albums + 2 EP - 2012-2019)

This album has been mixed/mastered by my brother Loïc who plays with me in [P.U.T] and has his own electronic project "Garlic. lab", he has done additional samples in a few songs (see below).

1.1 Under pressure:

We started this song with a very stoner song like "Fugushima" which was the opening in our first album .... but here more varied and we hope more surprising, more anxious, and dark with breaks and repetition and the sample is here to contribute to a strange atmosphere.

1.2 la danse des sorcières:

When we started composing this song and the more we let ourselves go in the "noise" part it made me think, in the rhythm, of people dancing around a fire in a trance state, I had a sample of a kind of howling called "witch" that I used, and Yves created a whole intro on the theme. it's a piece that we play a lot and which has since taken on even more importance live.

1.3 Últimas palabras:

I've got his sample, like for "under pressure" that was originally worked for the third album of my previous band Missiles of October, but unfortunately has not been recorded :( it's a mix between noise rock and stoner with a very emo punk final

1.4 Godzilla:

We had the idea to make a song about Godzilla and city destruction, it's the VOST of these.

1.5 Eye of a Storm:

Live studio experimental improvisation recorded together in one take with NO overdubs. additional samples by Loïc

Disk 2 :DUB WHALE trilogy:

We recorded all the songs in 2 days, so we got one more studio day and we decided to record a new song. Here it's the result of a first improvisation, followed by 2 more declinations. It was an optic to say we have a cool song, but we can play it in different visions, like remixes. additional samples by Loïc
