Behind The Artworks: Sun Blood Stories - Shadow Loud (2024)

Amber Pollard / Sun Blood Stories: The demo tracks for Shadow Loud were sent to Boise artist Kirsten Furlong and she listened to the album and created the three pieces of art that became the artwork. When she sent the art to us it was love at first sight and we knew right away that the pieces she created were perfect for this album. The themes of this album aren’t new themes for us to write about it for the most part, but some of the newer themes we found ourselves flirting with that were newer for us were themes of rebuilding, surviving, and the freedom that comes with putting yourself back together after being unmade. I think Kirsten picked up on those themes and channeled them. On the back cover the bird has been unmade, on the front dismantled, and on the insert our bird is finally free after being put back together again.
