Behind The Tracks: Crash The Calm - Rope (Single) (2024)

“Sleep on the Floor” was written as an instrumental during a time of purgatory for Crash the Calm. A founding member, lead singer Brian had just left to pursue other projects and the group was left voiceless without a clear path forward. After joining Crash as lead singer James was inspired by this idea of “singing for those without a voice” and formed that message into the concept of “Sleep on the Floor” A song that loosely follows a narrative of someone struggling with addiction and homelessness. This story is coupled with criticism of public assistance for mental health and humane treatment of those in need. A question to our morality “Is this the best we can do?” comes after a bridge were cardboard houses are a metaphor to Schrödinger's box and toe tags are written in Helvetica font, the typeface of the New York City Transit Authority. The song was recorded, mixed and mastered by Crash at their personal studio and is a part of “Lifeless Sounds” an album to be released early next year.
