In this new interview, we sat down with the Chilean Folk Metal band Wardemon to ask questions about their album, "Aires De Guerra".

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

This album tells us about the Nordic culture in relation to how they saw the fight to conquer new lands, be able come back to home, and celebrate the victory achieved on their own. It also shows us the belief of this culture, that dying in battle was a great honor since they would ascend to Valhalla, to celebrate in a great feast with the gods and fallen brothers. The concept of this LP is the strength and honor that the Viking warriors had on the battlefield.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

The name of the album is “Aires de Guerra”, its meaning is clear when warriors head for battle and the air becomes dense, leaving the uncertainty of how many will be left standing. The concept is the announcement of a grand war.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

The main composers of this release are Israel Bruna (Lead Guitar and chorus) and Jorge Vargas (Harsh/Clean Vocal and Rhythm Guitar), both founders of Wardemon. However, in the composition there are contributions from the rest of the members in terms of the musical arrangements of each of the songs.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

Without hesitation, it would be “Morir de Pie – (To die standing)”. This song was the first composition and the one that defined our style. It is also our anthem.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

There is no special message in the album, what is there, is an intention, and that is to show that metal is a powerful machine of energy, that when we listen to it, it makes our skin crawl.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

Yeah, of course! The first song, this is: To die standing.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

The main inspiration is the music of the Folk genre, mixing it with other branches of the Metal style such as melodic Death metal, power metal, among others... some exponents of the style have been bands like Ensiferum, Amon Amarth, Wintersun, Children of Bodom, Korpiklaani, for example .... But we try to create our own sound that characterizes us and that when listening to us, the listener knows that it is Wardemon. We will always be grateful to our families, friends, and fans, who for us are a fundamental pillar in this project.
