Interviews: ADEPTOR

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Thrash Metal band ADEPTOR from Italy. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

The name of the band came out quite spontaneously, we simply added the suffix r to the word adept in Italian, it sounded thrash so we liked it.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

For Daniel and Alessandro, thrash metal is just part of who they are. They’re both die-hard thrashers, so it was a natural choice for them. As for me, I enjoy a wide variety of music, but thrash metal is the only genre where I can successfully blend all my influences. The biggest reason we all love thrash is that we’re angry about a lot of things happening in the world, and this music allows us to express that instead of staying silent.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Daniel and Alessandro met at the Circus Club in Florence, where they first decided to form a thrash metal band. Gianluca then joined along with Francesco Guarnieri, our original guitarist. When Francesco left, Gianluca, who was a friend of mine from the Lizard Academy, asked me if I wanted to join Adeptor, and I said yes. When Gianluca left, I took over as the frontman.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

My favorite band is Metallica and Mastodon, Daniel’s favorite is Judas Priest, and Alessandro’s favorite is Slayer…

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Anything that makes me angry about the world today can inspire me. Thrash metal is a cathartic way for me to channel negative emotions into something creative.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was on Saturday, October 5th, at "Le Scuderie di Barone," a pub owned by a friend of ours.

7. Where would you like to act?

We hope to do a European tour with the release of our upcoming album.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

I haven’t thought about it much, but I’m pretty open to any kind of collaboration.

9. Whom not?

Not really. I don’t have any specific artist with whom I wouldn’t collaborate.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

The worst for me was when I performed solo, playing instrumental songs I’d composed along with covers from Andy Timmons, John Petrucci, and Joe Satriani. I didn’t have a band and had to rely on backing tracks, which made it tougher. Being alone on stage with an audience that’s more focused on your performance is challenging. With a band, it’s different—people are there to have fun, and you feel their support. For beginners, I’d say nerves are normal and even healthy. The more you perform live, the more comfortable you’ll get with it. Just have fun and remember that the audience is there to enjoy the moment with you.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Bands like Metallica, Sepultura, and many Bay Area thrash metal bands have been huge influences. But as I mentioned before, I’m also a big fan of Mastodon. Outside of thrash, I’ve also been influenced by bands like Alice in Chains, Godsmack, Ensiferum, Children of Bodom, and Lamb of God. Daniel outside Judas had been influenced by kreator, sodom, coroner, dark angel e sepultura, and what about Alessandro outside Slayer he like rush, testament, merciyful fate e megadeth...

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

It’s hard to remember right now, maybe that one guy dressed up like Michael Myers (even with the fucking knife) that stalked me all the time, before the concert, stand all the show in the front row, and waited for me at the bar.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Honestly, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to express my full gratitude for their love and support. There are people out there who are willing to travel long distances and sacrifice their time and money to see us. Fans like that are the reason music is still alive and kicking.

14. What do you think of our site?

I was impressed by the variety and amount of amazing bands on your site. People looking for something new should definitely check it out! I'm honored to be part of it.
