Interviews: Not Enough Space

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band Not Enough Space from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

In 2018, we started playing at open mics in the Orlando area to gain experience in performing. We used to bring way too much equipment to open mics and setting all of it up would often cut into our set time, and we usually did not have a lot of space on stage. One night at an open mic at the University of Central Florida, we played a set in a lecture hall and crammed all of our equipment by the podium. The host asked us if we had a band name before we started our set and we informed the host that we did not have a band name yet. From there, she then introduced us to the audience by saying, “here’s to Not Enough Space.”

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We decided to start playing metalcore because we wanted to blend melodic and heavy elements into our music to capture more emotion and dynamics in our music. We also all grew up listening to heavy music and felt that it resonated with us all.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We did not know each other before the band was formed. We all met through social media and the Orlando music scene.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Lizzie’s favorite band is I See Stars, Liv’s favorite band is Asking Alexandria, Tristan’s favorite band is Avenged Sevenfold, Jacob’s favorite band is Basement and Maurice’s favorite band is Title Fight.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We are inspired by several topics such as mental health, trauma, and heartbreak. We also draw a lot of inspiration from old school metalcore as well.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was at The Rave in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with The Funeral Portrait.

7. Where would you like to act?

We would love to perform at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater and The Palladium (downstairs) one day.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We would love to feature one day with Danny Worsnop from Asking Alexandria.

9. Whom not?

We are honestly pretty open-minded! Our upcoming album focuses on blending different genres and sounds to create something for everyone.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Lizzie Kristina: I have personally dealt with stage fright over the years and people would often tell me, “just fake it til you make it.” If I could give any advice to beginners on how to overcome stage fright, I would say that it is important to blend your personality and stage persona to highlight who you truly are without having to “fake it” or mask the parts of you that make you, you. Just remember why you’re passionate about music in the first place and that everyone in the room plays a vital role in the community. Don’t sell yourself short.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Collectively, we would say that Asking Alexandria, Veil of Maya, A Day to Remember, Suicide Silence, and I See Stars have inspired us the most.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

It’s not weird, but we think it’s super sick when fans get our signatures tattooed on them! It’s honestly such a surreal experience.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love our fans! It’s an amazing experience getting to interact with everyone at the merch table after our set. It truly makes our night being able to get to know new people and share our love of music with them.

14. What do you think of our site?

We think Breathing The Core is sick! It is amazing that this site can help grow the community and expose people to new artists. We would highly recommend this site to our friends and other bands!

15. Something to add?

Our new single, “Primitive” is out now on all streaming platforms! You can catch this song live this fall on our tour with The Funeral Portrait and Dark Divine.
