Track By Tracks: All I Know - Stiletto Nightmare (2024)

This song and the next one were actually recorded back in 2012 for our abandoned 2nd album. The 1st thing I wrote for that album was 'All The Way', which ironically ended up on the reissue of our 1st album 'Vanity Kills' in 2010. '(Can't Get You) Outta My Head' was the 2nd song we came up with. Keyboards and new lead vocals were added in 2022 and it was first released in early '23 on the 'Defiant' compilation CD on Melodic Rock Records.

It deals with a classic rock n' roll topic: bad girls messing with your heart & mind. This one was never played live with the previous line-up, it debuted in the summer of '23.

Another 'old' song, first played live back in 2010. Aside from keyboards, the 2012 recording was pretty much left untouched, but we did add Veerle's backing vocals to this one since she did such a good job on it and we felt it gave the song the extra kick in the ass it needed.

The keyboard arrangement for these first 2 songs was written by David Poltrock, who also wrote the arrangement for 'Asphyxia' on the 'Vanity Kills' album.

This one's about an impossible love that cannot last beyond a one-night stand.

'Playin' With Fire' is the first song we wrote with the new line-up, it was finished in early 2023 and debuted live a couple of weeks later. It's something we're really proud of, as in a way it proved we could still do it. After laying dormant for about 10 years we felt we could still come up with the goods. I sincerely believe this is one of the best things we've done, so we definitely wanted it on the e.p. so it'd be the first thing people hear from the new line-up. I think everyone really shines on this.

Fun fact: the first time we played this live we only got as far as the bridge, when my guitar flaked out on me and we had to halt the song mid-way. Not my finest moment.

It's based on a true story about this chick that used to follow us around on shows back in the day and was always up to no good. It's written as a warning to a friend, and it blends fact and fiction to protect the innocent. 'Hidin' From Love' was the 1st single from Bryan Adams' self-titled debut album back in early 1980. It was only a minor hit in Canada. As a major fan, I presented 3 options to the band to cover one of his songs, and this is the one they picked. I didn't want to go for any of the obvious choices, in part to hopefully turn some people on to some of the deeper cuts in his amazing catalog.

For this one, we stay pretty much true to the original in terms of the arrangement, though the keyboards and harmony vocals might be more prominent in our version.

This song will be exclusive to the 'Stiletto Nightmare' EP and will not be on the upcoming full-length album in 2025.
