Behind The Artworks: Mindreaper - Withering Shine (...Into Oblivion) (2024)

Withering Shine (...Into Oblivion) is about the inevitability of death and the pull of the great oblivion from our individual life stories into the void. This theme can be seen as a grand summary that represents the album musically and lyrically as a whole.

The apocalyptic landscape (which is the reminiscent of a volcanic fire place) describes the process of the extinction, while the falling pictures, as a direct analog story testimony, are floating into destruction, which leads into their final oblivion. The trees represent the oldest living creatures that are a symbolic of the longest silent witnesses of all the histories of life. But in the end even they will perish unfortunately one day.

As you can see, the artwork is fitting especially for the lyric of the title track very well. The transience is a driving force that also accompanied us on the last album in a different form, of course. To clarify this connection we have worked here with the same artist for the cover as for the previous one. Björn Gooßes (Killustrations) did again a really awesome job here from our point of view on this artwork.
