Behind The Artworks: Misanthropic Aggression - Insect Politics (2024)
The cover art concept was conceived by the band in an unplanned vision of a ruinous scene infested by twice-cleaved denizens, blown up to horrifying proportions. Jeremy Snevil (PINK MASS) manifested this vision for us by drawing an incredible front piece bearing an insect and other arthropods; the scorpion on the left plays the role of greed-monger wresting life force from his surroundings and protecting his interests with a venomous barb; the mantis on the right embodies the affectee — shrewd, armed, and unwilling; in the background, an enshrouded spider weaves the web of his machinations without being seen. Drawn in the lower right hand corner is the Death Dealer shield by Warhead Art. We wanted to carry this element over from our previous tape EP as a signifier of continuation, especially since the emblem ended up inspiring one of the songs on the album: “The Serpent and the Sickle.”
