Interviews: Mirrorcell

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore/Modern Metal band Mirrorcell from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

To be honest, it just came out that way. I wanted the band name to be a combination of two words that sounded like it could be its own word and thus “Mirrorcell” happened. At the time I felt like the themes and aesthetic of our band matched the title as well.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Since middle & high school this genre of music has always been involved in my life whether it was listening to bands/going to shows playing guitar or singing, I always had the desire to be a musician in some way or another whether it was this genre or not.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I had been close friends with my band members long before the band formed in high school.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

For me personally, if I had to pick a band or artist it would either be Bjork or Nine Inch Nails.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Cliché answer would be the bands I grew up listening to, however, I find myself now being more inspired by Cinema or other art forms when it comes to creating music or coming up with ideas with this project.

6. Where was your last gig?

I have not played shows in years, so I do not remember my last gig but, Mirrorcell will be debuting this December in Sauget IL with our friends in Dead7!

7. Where would you like to act?

I’m happy anywhere I get to play music and express my art but, Red Rocks would be cool someday!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

I would love to feature or collaborate with Trent Reznor, Deftones (Chino), Knocked Loose, Paleface Swiss, Darko US, Paledusk, Loathe (the list goes on) …

9. Whom not?

I'd rather not answer that.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Surprisingly no, I am an anxious person leading up to the moment but that all seems to shed away once I get on stage, and I can feel/live in the moment. I would recommend trying to envision yourself out of your body in that moment. Try mentally connecting with the music you are playing. In return I feel like that gives the most authentic expression of your art and passion.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Bands like Deftones, Nine Inch Nails, Bjork etc. But like I mentioned before I find myself being inspired by Film or stories more than music these days.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Nothing weird so far and I'd like to keep it that way.

13. What do you think of your fans?

I am incredibly grateful to anyone who supports Mirrorcell. It means the world to me.

14. What do you think of our site?

I love the site and what you are doing to keep the genre and music scene alive and thriving!

15. Something to add?

I hope anyone reading checks out our project and finds a connection within our music. Thank you so much for having me!
