Interviews: Super Monster Party
On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Videogame Metal band Super Monster Party from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?
So originally I was gonna call the band, Monster Party after the classic video game. But I saw there was already a band named that. So I added the word "Super" like the Super Nintendo and thus, Super Monster Party was born!
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
I've always had a love for melodic metal and catchy punk choruses. But I knew if I was gonna create a band, it had to be something I was strongly passionate about and that was video games.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
I've known Emilio for over a decade now. Andy and the rest of the guys the last couple of years but it feels like we have known each other forever.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
My favorite band of all time is the Misfits.
Emilio is Alice is Chains and Andy is Black Dalia Murder.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
I love the challenge of finding humanity and our personal connection to the characters in those games. Another Castle for example. It is a song that if you didn't know was about Mario. You can still personally connect with the lyrics.
6. Where was your last gig?
Bitgen Music Fest in Baltimore Maryland
7. Where would you like to act?
I would love to perform at 70 Tons of Metal, Hellfest, or Wacken Festival.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Oh man, so many choices. But my top 3 would be Bruce Dickenson, Glenn Danzig, and Herman Li
9. Whom not?
Ynwgie, because he doesn't like donuts.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
I used to during my early days. The best advice I was ever given was to always perform like there's no tomorrow. Give it all. Leave it all out there.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Obviously. The Misfits, Rhapsody, and Enya. I know she's not a band. But she's one of my biggest inspirations.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
If the carpet matched the drapes.
13. What do you think of your fans?
I think we have some of the most unique fans in the world. We connect not only on the basics of music but through the nostalgia of the video games that we grew up to adore and love.
14. What do you think of our site?
I think you guys are kicking ass. Highly recommend.
15. Something to add?
Yes. Sega Genesis does what NintenDONT!
