Interviews: Vendetta Love
On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Rock/Grunge band Vendetta Love from Ireland. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?
Shawn: Years ago when we started this thing, we just threw a bunch of words written on
pieces of paper into a guitar case and picked out two and, voila. Vendetta Love.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Shawn: It wasn't a conscious decision to play a particular genre. We just write stuff that
we like the sound of and that we wanna hear.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Shawn: Yeah we all knew each other beforehand, or in and around when we started this
band, more or less.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Shawn: Guns N Roses & HIM
Chris: Alice Cooper & NIN
Darren: Guns N Roses & Alice in Chains
Neil: Def Leppard & B*Witched and some aul lad called Seamy McWee that only plays tunes
on Heinz bean cans.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Shawn: Uh, I can only speak for myself as to what inspires me to write songs but it usually
comes from fucking around in the rehearsal room. Could be a riff or a groove in a jam or
something and it sets me off. Might As Well is a great example. That opening guitar is
something Chris did while we were just kinda standing around and it caught all of us instantly.
That kinda spontaneous synergy. That's the most inspiring thing for me, musically.
6. Where was your last gig?
Shawn: Our last show to date was a headliner at an all-day festival in Portlaoise at the end
of August. It was a really good show. It's always nice playing a hometown gig.
7. Where would you like to act?
Shawn: Where would we like to play? There are so many iconic places we wanna play.
Download would be killer but realistically we wanna get a few more UK runs going and then on
to the rest of Europe, Scandinavia, and eventually continental America
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Shawn: Hmm..I'd love to get some shows opening for The Conspirators. That'd be fuckin
beyond amazing. On a smaller level there's a band called Return To Dust that I'd really like to
play with. They've got such a great sound and they're right down our alley.
9. Whom not?
Shawn: Who would we not like to? I mean, we're not gonna talk shit about anybody. It's
hard enough out there as it is. But there might be one or two out there that, well, it just wouldn't
happen.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Chris: Don't be a pussy and try to get rid of stage fright with alcohol. Raw dog it and stop
being a little bitch
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Shawn: All the late '80's/early '90's stuff. Guns, Alice In Chains, Skid Row,
Soundgarden..that's where we all come together.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Shawn: Umm, we were playing Siege of Limerick back in March and, after our set, a
couple girls came up to me literally 60 seconds after our set finished and were all like "can I
have your shirt?" This thing was fuckin soaked in gig sweat, probably growing mold as this was
happening ..but I liked the shirt so I was like, Nah. Then she asked me for my hat, my favorite
Jurassic Park one, hell nah. So then, she was like "Can I have aaanything?" So I think I gave
her a pick or something. She seemed disappointed, and a little pissed off actually. I happened to
lose that hat at that show so, I dunno, maybe she has it.
13. What do you think of your fans?
Shawn: It's a weird concept. Everyone we've met that has come to a show, or come up to
us on the street has always been so fucking nice. There's been people who've traveled a long,
long fuckin distance to see us play and that blows our minds. I don't think I'll ever be able to
show enough appreciation for the people who support us. We're all fans of rock n roll. So yeah,
to those of you out there who dig our shit and come to shows and interact with us in person or
online, fucking thank you. You're awesome.
14. What do you think of our site?
Shawn: The websites are really cool. After checking it out, I really like what you're doing.
More of this, please.
15. Something add?
Anything to add...We're going into writing/recording mode for now. We're going to have a busy
'25 if all goes to plan so now it's just about getting our new shit done and recorded.
