Track By Tracks: Mirrorcell - Reflecting The Inner Self (2024)

The idea behind each track is ultimately up to how the listener interprets but for me what each song means in order:

1. Tongues: plays with an almost obsessive type of love and infatuation between two characters who know they are dangerous for each other but need each other to survive (metaphorically speaking).

2. ZOMBIE: was written from the headspace of the time of people who fall into group-think and delusion and what it feels like to try and escape from the crowd of negativity (hints in the lyrics in the song that say “I won't let you sink your teeth into me”)

3. Dr0wn Me: was the first song written on the record back in 2020. I was in a very dark headspace at the time dealing with a lot of personal issues and conflicts from my childhood. So I just bled what my heart felt into the lyrics of that song at that time. Essentially the track deals with topics of Dread, Depression, nihilism, and self-hatred.

4. Dissolve: was a concept that Caleb Freihaut and I came up with to write a song about the Sci-film Annhiltion and themes of the Greek Mytho story of Cephellus and Procris. If you watch the films or read the story you will see the similarities in lyrical choices.

5. Bleach: Deals with some similar topics as Drown Me but, with the idea and hope of being purified and moving from the past. It's still a song about hopelessness but with a side of optimism.
