Interviews About Albums: Ka'rah - Epitaphs Of War (2024)
In this new interview, we sat down with the Croatian Death Metal band Ka'rah to ask questions about their album, "Epitaphs Of War".
1. What can you say about Epitaphs of War album?
Epitaphs of war is an amalgamation of all our inspirations and views of life. We started to write it as an exhaust valve and to express ourselves in ways we couldn't in real life. All of it evolved in this EP, and we hold it close to our hearts since it's also a part of us.
2. What is the name of the Epitaphs of War?
The EP revolves around the dark parts of the human mind. We are a species constantly in war in times of peace.
Epitaphs represent the everlasting wars with different characters in them. You have the blood-bent decapitator,
warmongering religious zealots as "Blasphemous preacher", powerful rulers, and on the bottom starved masses who turn to cannibalism as the sole purpose to survival.
3. Which one is the composer of Epitaphs of War?
Everyone had their say. As much as we guitarists take the spotlight and come with riffs, everyone in our band has an equal role. Marin came up with some drum parts we never would have thought of in our entire lives. Lucija on bass, as shy as she is, has underrated potential. We fully comprehended her wit on the recording of the EP when we could finally hear her isolated parts.
Vitan started to do vocals only 2 years ago so this band's sound evolved on how his singing improved.
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
Blasphemous preacher. It perfectly summarises the early influences and messages we want to share. While still being catchy, fast, and crushing.
5. Is there a special message in Epitaphs of War? If there is what is it?
The message is absurdity of wars, the unnecessary casualties of It, and how few selfish egomaniacs lead nations to doom.
6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?
1st stave on Blasphemous Preacher:
"Under the evil sun
On the sea of blood
Adults killing kids
For glory and prestige"
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?
We would like to thank our older metalhead friends who exposed us to so many old underground bands while telling us their opinions without mincing one’s words.
8. Something to add?
With the new addition of David on guitar, we are bringing out new music with an even faster pace and more crushing riffs.
