Interviews About Albums: Sarkasm - Carnival Of Atrocities (2024)
In this new interview, we sat down with the Canadian Thrash Metal/Death Metal band Sarkasm to ask questions about their album, "Carnival Of Atrocities".
1. What can you say about the new album?
I would say Carnival of Atrocities is a natural progression from our first LP As Empires Decay. The formula has not changed that much. Carnival is a bit more "in your face" in its approach, but nevertheless, it is still us, our sound, our vibe...
2. What is the meaning behind the album title?
Well, there is an "overall" theme in our lyrics, which is the downfall of humanity; decadence, chaos, and everything that brings us to our fatal end. This world we live in is fucked. We are all doomed.
3. Who are the writers?
Francois (guitar) and myself are the main writers, but everyone in the band adds their own thing, as long as it serves the song. Every input from any member is welcome.
4. If you had to pick one song from the album, which one would it be?
Oh, I really do not know! We are pleased with every song on the album! You could pick one now and it would change next week, so... Every track is well placed I think, and the pacing is great.
5. Is there a special message on this album? If so, what is it?
We do not write with any particular message in mind. We do not want to tell people how to think. We are not into politics, and we are not engaged in any social cause, there are plenty of bands out there that are good at it. That is just not our thing. We just write as witnesses, with no opinions whatsoever; people have a minds of their own, so who the fuck would we be to tell them what is right or wrong?
6. Are there some lyrics you would like to share?
They will be included in the booklet, so, I will let people check them out by themselves and figure out what it means for them. That is something we tend to do; someone can figure out something totally different from another person, and both are good.
7. What has been inspiring you for this new album?
Inspiration comes in many forms. All that bullshit that surrounds us in this world is quite inspiring in fact! It is a gold mine for aggressive music! It really comes from anywhere, you just have to be receptive to it. It is in what you see, what you hear, what you fell...
8. Something to add?
Thank you for having us, Keep supporting the underground. Cheers!
