Interviews: Andrea Krakovská

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the aerial/acrobatic guitarist Andrea Krakovská from Australia. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Why did you want to play this genre?

Joe Satriani was actually my introduction to instrumental guitar. As a guitarist that doesn’t sing I was really drawn to this genre as I felt I could ‘sing’ through my guitar. I’ve always had a love for heavy music so naturally I wanted to create my own blend of instrumental rock/metal.

2. Your favorite band?

That’s a tough one! It used to be an easy question, when I was learning guitar my favourite band was Green Day and I pretty much learnt to play power chords by learning to play the entire American Idiot album back to front. Since then my taste definitely got heavier, and right now I’d say I’m more influenced by bands like Avenged Sevenfold, Bring me the Horizon and (fellow Aussies) Parkway Drive.

3. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Usually, an idea for a riff or a melody will spark the inspiration for a song, but my songs are also heavily influenced by the performance aspect. As an aerial guitarist (I play guitar while hanging upside down, spinning from a rope 20ft in the air) I’m always thinking about how my music will translate live, and how to blend those big epic, intense sections with moments to breathe. I love creating harmonies and blending heavy guitars with layers of synth/strings.

4. Whom would you like to feature with?

Although I do have a love for instrumental music I would love to collaborate with some singers in the future. There’s a pretty wide mix of artists that would be incredible to work with – from Aussie bands like Parkway Drive to fellow instrumentalists Nita Strauss or Lindsey Stirling. More important though is that whoever I work with or feature in my music has the same passion and drive and is willing to put all their energy and enthusiasm into the project.

5. Whom not?

It’s not so much about “whom not,” but I think collaborations work best when there’s a shared creative vision. If someone is not willing or doesn’t embrace the style or the genre it might not be a great fit. Likewis,e if someone has no passion or energy for the project.

6. What bands have inspired you the most?

Early on it was punk bands like Green Day and Blink 182. Later I was shredding to metal bands like Metallica and Bullet for my Valentine and more recently (as I already mentioned) I’ve been heavily inspired by bands like Parkway Drive and Bring Me the Horizon (both of whom had epic concerts that I went to this year), aside from bands my playing has also been really shaped by instrumental guitarists like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Nita Strauss. I’m constantly looking for new inspiration and love discovering new music!

7. What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

My shoes haha!

8. What do you think of your fans?

Everyone who comes to my shows, streams or shares my music is a part of my journey. I’m incredibly lucky that I get to share my music with people all over the world! Your support always means so much to me and everytime I see someone wearing my merch, signing up to my Patreon or talking about my music it absolutely makes my day.

9. What do you think of our site?

It’s fantastic! I love how it highlights diverse artists and provides a platform for bands and artists to share a bit of themselves and their music with the world.

10. Something to add?

Keep chasing the extraordinary. Whether it’s music, art, or life, don’t be afraid to reach for the skies—even if it means stepping out of your comfort zone.
