Interviews: Cloakroom Q

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Rock band Cloakroom Q from Northern Ireland. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or come out just like that?

Years ago a few of us saw death grips. After the gig, we lined up for the cloakroom as you do. We jokingly remarked that the queue was more intense than the gig itself. We decided on just 'cloakroom' at first. We then discovered there was in fact a band by that name so we promptly added the Q.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I suppose we genre-hop a lot. We like all kinds of music and would probably bore ourselves if we stuck to a similar sound. I guess it comes down to what we feel each individual song needs sonically.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yeah, it was a mixture of playing in bands before Cloakroom Q, school or just getting to know each other at local gigs.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Con's is probably Daft Punk Danny’s is Nirvana Jared’s is T Square. Or any music that sounds like it could be in Mario Kart Dan's is probably Death Grips or Roxy Music or some shit

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Chopin

6. Where was your last gig?

We supported bicurious in USC!

7. Where would you like to act?

In someone's living room.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Probably, a tropical fuck storm. Or Bach if they ever bring him back

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Aye, the first gig was terrifying. Honestly, the anticipation leading up to it is the worst part. It's grand during and after the fact.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

The Beatles obviously, but there's loads more I can't mind

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A hug.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They are mostly our lovely friends. If you feel inclined to become a new fan, know you don't have to be our friend if you don't want to.
