Interviews: Plaguewielder
On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Post-Black Metal/Gothic Metal band Plaguewielder from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?
Plaguewielder is a darkthrone album title.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
I want to blend the darkness of black metal with the allure of pop structures and catchiness. It took me a while to get where I am today songwriting-wise. This has been an evolution of practice and patience over the past 10 years.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes, we have for a very long time actually. I’ve known my drummer Chris since we were in middle school and the same with my guitar player Cory. We have known each other since I was in the 8th grade.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Cory: Converge
Chris: Dream theater
Bryce: Type o Negative
5. Who or what inspires you to write
The crushing weight of existence?
My family and loved ones.
6. Where was your last gig?
At a benefit for one of our friends who died from life failure at a VFW hall in Glendale West Virginia.
7. Where would you like to act?
Anywhere and everywhere.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Tribulation.
9. Whom not?
Five-finger death punch.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
I have not. Getting on stage takes a lot of confidence. Luckily I’ve had a lot of practice growing up. If you don’t practice. Stay off the stage. Get good at your craft and put in the hours. Once you have the confidence the people in front of you won’t bother you.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
The Beatles, Black Sabbath, Type o negative, tribulation, In Solitude.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
One guy asked for a picture of my genitalia. Also wanted to have us send him a sweaty shirt worn by my previous drummer. Can’t make this up.
13. What do you think of your fans?
I think anyone who has stuck by this band for the past 10 years through all of the members and stylistic changes is very dedicated. I couldn't be more thankful! We love you!
14. What do you think of our site?
I think your site is amazing!
15. Something to add?
Our 4th album IN DUST & ASH come out 1/8!
