Interviews: Saints Among Us
On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Metal band Saints Among Us from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or did it just come out like that?
Our band name was created by Adam and Brad, who were pre-teens. They mashed up two video games, Saints Row and The Wolf Among Us, and somehow, it stuck. Not exactly profound, but here we are!
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
We’re drawn to alternative rock because of its raw honesty and emotional range. It lets us express the darker, more intense sides of life while also bringing in moments of hope and beauty. It feels like the perfect genre to reflect the complexity of human experiences.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Adam and Brad have known each other since birth—no escaping that sibling bond. Adam dragged me (Maddy) into this after we met at college. Then we picked up Rahmaal at uni, and finally, Brad’s mate Tom joined. We all just sort of fell together like a very loud puzzle.
4. Each band member’s favorite band?
Maddy: I don’t have one particular favourite band but I’d say I’m currently taking a lot of inspo from bands / artists such as Spiritbox, Sleep Token, Billie Eilish. Honestly my music taste is all over the shop.
Ram: My favorite bands often change over time, but for the heavier side of my musical inspiration, I’m drawn to artists like Periphery, Volatile Ways, Spiritbox, Polaris, ERRA, and Landmvrks.
When it comes to highlighting the bass, I take cues from Submotion Orchestra, Green Tea, Tyler, the Creator, and MF DOOM.
Brad: I'm a little emo at heart so I'm a massive fan of bands like Lower Than Atlantis and Mallory Knox, but on the heavier side of things I'm a huge fan of what Sleep Token and Spiritbox have been putting out into the world, and they've definitely been a big influence on my guitar playing and songwriting mindset in recent years.
Adam: My favorite bands, like I Prevail and Sleep Token, resonate deeply with me because of their ability to combine raw power with profound emotional depth. They strike a unique balance between anger and intensity, alongside moments of solace and sorrow, creating a soundscape that’s both visceral and cathartic. These influences, along with countless other bands, have shaped how I approach drumming—blending their energy with my own creative twist. It’s through this fusion that I’ve discovered my own rhythm and voice, connecting every beat with purpose and unity.
Tom: Favourite Bands - I'm big on my math rock and Midwest emo I love TTNG, Pool Kids, and Pretend. On the heavier side of things David Maxim Micic is a huge influence on me, and so is Maudlin of the Well. Anything experimental and/or well-composed is something I'd likely be interested in
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
We draw inspiration from everything around us—life’s highs and lows, personal struggles, and the world in general. For Hunger, we were really inspired by the concept of kintsugi, the Japanese art of mending broken things with gold. It reflects how we can heal and become stronger through our challenges, and that theme is something we are currently exploring in our songwriting.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was at The Sindercombe Social in London. We played as part of the Beer and Busking events supporting War Child UK. It was an incredible night, packed with energy, and for an amazing cause. We had a blast performing and raising money for children in war-torn countries.
7. Where would you like to play?
We’d love to play at some of the big festivals, like Download, SlamDunk, Isle of Wight, or Warped Tour! It’d be amazing to connect with a wider audience and share our music on such a massive stage.
8. Who would you like to support?
We’d love the chance to support bands like Holding Absence, Architects, and Spiritbox. These bands have been a massive influence on us, and it would be incredible to share the stage with them. The energy and passion they bring is something we really admire.
9. Who not?
We’d be down for almost any lineup, as long as it feels like a natural fit. We’re not about trying to force a mix that doesn’t quite work, so any artist with a completely different audience or style might not be the best match for us.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
Definitely! I used to struggle with panic attacks before playing and would even throw up before most gigs. Now, I’m fine—though I still get nervous, but that’s part of the excitement! For beginners, I’d say embrace the nerves and remember they’re normal. Focus on the music and on connecting with your bandmates. It gets easier with experience, so keep pushing through!
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
We’re really inspired by bands that mix heavy and melodic styles in unique ways, like Bring Me The Horizon, PVRIS, The Plot in You, Loathe, and While She Sleeps. They each bring something intense and atmospheric to their music, and we admire how they explore raw emotions while keeping the music powerful.
12. What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Can’t think of the weirdest thing but the coolest is definitely one of our fans getting our band logo tattooed on his hand!
13. What do you think of your fans?
We absolutely love our fans! They’re the reason we’re able to do what we do, and we feel incredibly lucky to have such a passionate, supportive community. It’s amazing to see people connect with our music, and we appreciate every single one of them—whether they’re at the front of the crowd or following us online. Without them, we wouldn’t be where we are.
14. What do you think of our site?
Your site is an excellent platform for bands like ours to connect with fans and share our journey. Thank you for the opportunity to be featured—we truly appreciate what you’re doing for the music community.
15. Something to add?
Just a big thank you to everyone who has supported us so far—whether you’ve been with us from the start or just recently discovered our music. We’re super excited about what’s coming up, and we can’t wait to share more with you all.
