Track By Tracks: November Fire - Through A Mournful Song (2024)

1. Wall Of Monsters:

A song about those in power and influence, dividing people for their own profit and gain. There is a need for people to find truth and understanding and to come together despite their differences. To unify and tear down the wall these Monsters of lies and division stand upon and guard.

The idea behind the riffs was back-to-basics, focusing on one chord with the drums starting simple, then swelling to loud, tribal beats, building that wall. The middle section gets very psychedelic; sonically, it represents the wall being torn down.

2. Can He See:

A song about a giant elemental, made of metal dir,t and rocks, who finds himself trudging across the earth, feeling the years upon his massive bulk. He looks back upon the years and miles behind him and feels there is so much more behind than ahead.

The song is an allegory about feeling there is less ahead than behind, be it life, fun, or experiences, only to realize there is so much more to learn, live, eand xperience, now and in every moment.

3. Sad Song With No Name:

The song starts with the sounds of a forest; a wind blowing through the trees, an owl hoots. Short sound collages were added to all the songs to make each of them feel more like an event, like a sonic mini-movie.

Lyrically, this is about the horrors of war and how deaths are a statistic. It is told from the perspective of a young mother and her baby who experience an attack on their hometown. Through the song, they take a journey, shepherded by a demonic bard by a campfire who sings her tales of a future where mankind learns from its mistakes and grows a paradise. All the while, the mother and her baby had been killed, and the bard had guided their souls to the afterlife, victims in another selfish war.

4. Faint as the Stars:

This tells a story about a warmonger resurrected into this world, one where sycophants and minions perpetuate lies that cultivate an enormous following, where lies and tribalism lead to an apocalyptic War. The end of the song is where those survivors beg for those who came before, an alien race, for another chance to prove we are worthy.

The galloping riffs chug the story along and come to a crashing meltdown, and the simple back riff at the end nods to a hopeful future, a stark contrast to the main part of the song.

5. Under Red Skies:

This song is a sequel to a song we wrote in 2002 called Monster Joe, about an alien race who seeded the world with their DNA looking to grow their legacy. When they came back to check on us all they found was a warmongering Madman and his memories on a chunk of rock floating through space. They decided to take our DNA and make pets out of us because that's all we were worth.

The song features a bluesy, almost tribal feeling culminating in a jammed-out ending, with the band reaching out into spacey territory.

6. Wake Up:

We live In a world where people choose to surround themselves with sources of information that feed their desires, where news and information are weaponized by parties with agendas. This song is about how important it is to seek out the truth, to rise above the lies from those who only seek to gain information on reality, and how we need to make an effort to Wake Up!

The song features a funky verse that explodes into the hook. There was a lot of room in the chorus for the vocals and drums to elevate the riff, and the long instrumental section feels like an early 70’s power trio jamming away.
