Interviews: ABZY
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or did it come out just like that?
The name Abzy comes from a nickname my family gave me when I was a kid. My name is Abbas, and my family used to call me Abbasy, which eventually got shortened to Abzy.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
I felt that this genre is the most honest and the easiest way to deliver both emotions and energy together, which is why I chose it.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
I’m a solo artist, so there’s no band—I handle everything on my own.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
I can’t pick a favorite band at the moment, but lately, I’ve been enjoying The Plot In You, Holy Water, and Thrown. That’s all I can think of for now!
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
I think life is my biggest inspiration when it comes to writing—things that happen to me, events in the world, and, most importantly, experiences that people can relate to.
6. Where was your last gig?
My last gig was in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and I truly enjoyed every moment of it.
7. Where would you like to act?
I’d like to branch out into different fields and explore new opportunities to grow my fan base and gain
more recognition.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
I’m open to collaborating with anyone who is talented and a great fit for my projects. Specifically, I’d love to work with artists from abroad, and it would be incredible if they could sing in their native language.
9. Whom not?
Obviously, someone who isn’t a good person or a proper fit for the project wouldn’t be the right choice.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
Stage fright is something that happens to everyone, no matter what. It usually only lasts a few minutes, and then you're good to go. My advice is to connect with the audience, break the ice, have fun with them, and just enjoy the experience.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Bands that have inspired me include Sleep Token, Bad Omens, Slipknot, Silent Planet, and many more.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
So far, thankfully, no fan has ever asked me for anything weird.
13. What do you think of your fans?
I think my fans are amazing and loyal. We have such a fantastic community where we share and enjoy music together.
14. What do you think of our site?
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your kind words. I'm glad you think the site is amazing, and I’ll
definitely keep working hard to showcase great talent and music!
15. Something to add?
I’d love to thank you for having me, and rock on! Make sure to check out my album Hollow Bloom—I hope you enjoy it!
