Interviews: Necrambulant

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Brutal Death Metal/Slam band Necrambulant from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

The name for the band came from our original bassist/vocalist, Chad. The name itself is a combination of the words “necro” and “ambulant”, creating the word “Necrambulant” which equates to “Zombie”

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Because death metal is life, my dude. I grew up watching horror and sci-fi movies. Then discovered death metal in my adolescence as a music genre combining the elements of everything I enjoyed about horror flicks, and never looked back from there.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes. Ron and I have been friends since high school. I met Chad in my early 20s through mutual associations, since we were both doing various death metal bands that were active in the scene. I only formally met Trent a few years back, but we had been aware of each other's work in our own respective projects going back to the 2000s.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Bonemeat – Creed

Ron – Ariana Grande

Trent – $uicidegirl$

Matt – Enuff Z’Nuff

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Horror movies, brutal death metal, true crime, etc etc

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was the 1st AZ Brutal Bash hosted by our buds, Nuclear Remains, in Mesa AZ.

7. Where would you like to act?

Like in a movie? Definitely not Hollywood, too many weirdos. Maybe some independent b-horror film as a masked killer or something…

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Never really thought about that. I’m honestly not one to pay attention to that sort of thing, since it seems like it’s become more of a new trend with younger death metal bands. So I guess, for me, it depends on who’s asking and their relationship with the band. Not against it; it’s just not something I’ve ever put any thought into.

9. Whom not?

Pretty much the same answer as above. If something like a vocal feature was to ever happen then it would need to be with a band that I am personally a fan of. I’m not the sort of person who would do it with just any band because they threw an offer on the table.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Eh, not really. The only time I ever really got any kind of adverse effect like that from performing was likely in the first death metal band I played a show with back when I was probably 15 years old. I went up to play (as a drummer) in front of like 6 people and the bar regulars and totally spaced out on how one of the songs went right after counting into it. But, since then, I get a good adrenaline rush before taking the stage. Maybe that’s just me channeling the nerves in a more positive way. The bigger the crowd, the more excited and focused I get. If I had to give a beginner any tips on how to overcome their own stage fright I’d probably just tell them to keep their chest up and understand that the people standing there to watch you are there because they want to be. You command the room when you’re the one onstage. So don’t look at the performance as a challenge but, rather, as an opportunity to leave everyone there with a reason to come back to see you the next time. It’s all about confidence, even if ya gotta fake it. Own that shit and let the people know (or lead them to believe) that you know what the fuck you’re doing. Just practice your ass off and be prepared to perform.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Being a big fan and collector of music, there’s a mile-long list I can make to answer this question. But, to keep it short and sweet, I’ll try to consolidate it as much as possible with some longtime inspirations over the course of my 37 years on earth so far: Iron Maiden, Cannibal Corpse, Uriah Heep, Manilla Road, Mercyful Fate, Morbid Angel, Death, Saxon, Deicide, Venom, Bathory, early CoF, Acheron, Ozzy... that’s all that comes to mind first. We also have a Spotify playlist called “The Necrambulist” full of bands we enjoy and bands that we drew inspiration from on the new album.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Nothing crazy so far. Some fans have asked for pieces of musical equipment like cymbals before (not a request you hear every day, given how expensive those things are). Some have just bold-faced asked for free merch. There have been some wacky requests as to who to make out autographed CDs and stuff to. But, as far as “weird” things, I haven’t experienced anything really noteworthy yet.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are our lifeblood and why we keep doing what we do. Of course, we as a band, do what we want to do as creatives regardless of the feelings of outsiders. But, to me, without even a modest base of fans supporting what you're doing, ya don’t have much of a wave to ride on. As for us, we are extremely grateful to anyone & everyone supporting what we are doing and appreciate our fans to the fullest extent.

14. What do you think of our site?

Cool site!

15. Something to add?

Our new full-length “Upheaval of Malignant Necrambulance” comes out on March 7th, 2025 with pre-orders now up at Gore House Productions! We have two singles & music videos out at the time of this interview and another to be released before the album. So go check that shit out; like it, share it, drop your thoughts in the comments, and help us out by spreading the plague of Inhuman Slam Grind!
