Track By Tracks: Burning Creation - Sea Of Dead Bodies (2024)
The album opens with an intro titled "The Calling", which together with the last track on the album creates a kind of bracket in which the entire album is enclosed.
"Eaten By Hulder" is a story revolving around Scandinavian folklore, describing an encounter with the unpredictable Huldra. It very quickly turns into a bloody and macabre dismemberment of the speaker's body, which causes the demon in the body of a woman with a cow's tail over a dead, rotting body to rejoice.
The title "Sea Of Dead Bodies" is based on the biography of Ivar Ragnarson, also known as Ivar "The Boneless". It details several events from the life of the historical son of Ragnar Lothbrok, and also shows the struggle with his own disability by bathing it in the titular "sea of dead bodies".
"Ulfednar" tells the story of a warrior who, in his battle frenzy against Christians, balances between being a man and a bloodthirsty wolf.
"The Einherjers' Return" tells the story of the last battle that the warriors of Valhalla will have to fight when Ragnarok comes. There will come a time when courage, brotherhood, loyalty to gods and people will be proven, and betrayal and moral decay will be condemned. The mistakes of the executioners will not be forgiven, and in the glow of the sword of the giant Surtr, who will put an end to everything, they will be left only with the fear of the brave warriors and the mark of the scars of shame.
The song "Snakebite" describes the remorse, the internal war that the condemned prisoner in Nidhogg's palace is waging. He misses his native gods and compares himself to the roots of the Yggdrasill tree, gnawed by a snake or a dragon.
"Under The Fading" is a vision of Ragnarök - the final fate of gods, people, and all creation, as well as Gimlei - the hope that will be realized in the form of a new world.
"Tears Of Mourners" is the second song, after "Fimbulvinter" from the previous release, presenting the harbinger of Ragnarök. We are talking here about the death of Baldur, beloved by all creation, about the deceit of the jealous Loki, about Hermod's expedition to the goddess Hel, about the giantess Töck, and also about the great return of Baldur, when the old world burns in the fire of Surtr.
"As The Ocean Takes Us Down" is a description of an expedition to foreign lands, during which brave sailors must face the wrath of the gods in the form of a stormy, sinister ocean. And so it happened... Thor struck the anvil.
About the bonus cover of Amon Amarth "Burning Creation":
"This is a special song for us. We identify the beginnings of our band with it. We owe it not only our name but also the style we have developed over the course of these two releases. An additional reason for recording this cover is to show that we are not going to be ashamed or hide our inspiration from the Swedes of Amon Amarth. It is a kind of tribute in return for the inspiration that their music gave us."
