Track By Tracks: Runopatia - Archaistia (2024)
The title of this EP – “Archaistia” is a verbal variation, playfully dancing, Danse Macabre alike, around the same themes as always, in our case – archaism and nostalgia. The atmosphere we aim to create is, in short, intended to make you feel intoxicated by the scent of a dusty book, frantically staring into a monochromatic woodcut, that serves as a gateway to a parallel world, where you want to lose yourself. This is how we feel it, at least.
Technically, for these three tracks, we simplified things a bit in our avant-garde way, as usual, introducing classic composition patterns to ensure it doesn’t feel like too heavy of a book. They are more like light epigrams. So, differences between tracks, are very subtle in the case of the overall theme. We can find it only in the instrumental approach and it would be as follows:
1. Świat Przejrzy:
Opening with wide drums, bass, and panoramic synths it is there to give you the feel of a weird journey, that you’ve just begun. Repeatable verses and choruses are not trying to be too aggressive – they are just like a cloak for bridge parts, which is to remind you, that this is a simple song, yet, with something lurking under it.
2. Serce Krwawe:
This one is our interpretation of the poem “Wampir” (“Vampire”) by Tadeusz Miciński. Construction of this work and its content conjured me to build up literally one melody, with small variations, and use it as a background for lyrics, without even trying to overwhelm this literary masterpiece.
3. Za Późno:
Closing track is the pinnacle of what lies beneath project “Runopatia” on this EP, but in simpler form, then on previous releases. It’s a quite long song divided into two parts. First one is meant to be taken for catchy avant-garde, while the second for climax of nostalgia.
