Band Biographies: The River Filth
The River Filth are a Hard Rock’n’Roll band from Dublin. The band has taken the spirit of 70’s Rock’n’Roll and given it a new modern twist and are influenced by groups such as Thin Lizzy, Black Sabbath, and Soundgarden.
Bass player Al Browne (Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions, Dirt Blue Gene, etc) met guitar player Gerry Power (ex Ali & The DTs) on a busking session on Dublin’s Grafton Street. Soon after, they recruited Luca Filippini, one of Dublin’s most experienced and rated rock drummers. With the trio in place, they were joined by Steve Gunn on vocals, reunited with his old bandmate Gerry Power, and who has since gone on to forge a successful acting career (The Last Rifleman, God’s Creatures). The line-up was completed with the addition of Dublin session guitarist (and long-time collaborator with Al Browne), Steve Lawlor, who has worked with Imelda May among others.
