Interviews About Albums: U Kronakh - The Archaic Dance Of Winds (2025)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Ukrainian Atmospheric Black Metal/Death Metal band U Kronakh to ask questions about their album, "The Archaic Dance Of Winds".

1. What can you say about Archaic Dance of Winds?

The idea and concept of Archaic Dance of the Winds emerged during a hike to Mount Pip Ivan Chornohirskyi in the Ukrainian Carpathians. The album cover is also based on a personal photograph from that journey, depicting a real location along the route. I can consider this release the conclusion of a "trilogy" of albums with a common theme, written over a short period from 2020 to 2022.

2. What is the meaning of the album name?

The title reflects the core idea of the album’s lyrics: winds as ancient spirits that have existed in the mountains since time immemorial, watching over events and people, whistling and singing about the past and everything they have witnessed during their eternal dance among the rocks.

3. Which one is the composer of Archaic Dance of Winds?

The author is Artem Voidger.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

For me, all the songs on the album are equally strong, though each carries a slightly different mood. That made choosing a single quite difficult. However, if I had to pick one, it would be Чорна Гора" (Black Mountain), as it best conveys the atmosphere and core concept of the album.

5. Is there a special message in this album? If there is what it is?

The album’s lyrics hold a special message—each listener can find their own meaning between the lines, and for each person, it will be different. All I can say is that history is cyclical.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

For example, the lyrics of the third song speak about the Trypillia culture that once thrived in what is now Ukraine and its final period of existence.

"Into Lightless, Uncharted Depths"
Forgotten lands, desolate and barren,
Abandoned like fleeting guests of a wintering haven.
Fleeing in grey streams beneath the clouds,
Searching for fortuneInto lightless, uncharted depths.
They worshipped the sun,
Leapt forth, and ventured into the unknown.
Forsaken by light, they journeyed,
Their knees bloodied by endless falls.
They ran toward the unknown,
Beyond the horizon, to distant worlds.
Awakening in cold, dark,
And damp dungeons.
Living out their days in the gloom,
Never finding the path to those distant worlds.
Peace found only in ashes.
They walked the roads of despair,
Leaving behind only trails of bloodied ash.
Drawn to the light, they burned,
Falling in their struggle to move forward.
They knew no truth,
Hidden deep in silence,
In those grey valleys,
In those dim dawns

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

Without the musicians who took part in the recording, as well as the people who worked on mixing, illustrations, and more, this release would not have been possible. Each of these individuals contributed something unique. Special thanks also go to the label, which worked to ensure that the world would see a high-quality product.

8. Something to add?

A huge thank you to everyone who listens, shares, and supports our music. Your energy and appreciation give meaning to everything we create. Follow us on social platforms, spread the word
