Interviews About Albums: VEIL OF THE SERPENT - Gallery Of Sin (2024)

In this new interview, we sat down with the German/American Heavy Metal band VEIL OF THE SERPENT to ask questions about their album, "Gallery Of Sin".

1. What can you say about this new CD?

Well, our debut full-length album "Gallery Of Sin" was released in November 2024. It follows a three-part EP series and is a concept album exploring themes of corruption and ambition, structured like a dark horror story. The album is something we’re really proud of. We put a lot of energy into making it as cinematic and immersive as possible. It’s heavy, it’s dark... and it tells a story that’ll stick with you!

2. What is the meaning of the title?

"Gallery Of Sin" is the foundation of the story we’re telling. Imagine walking through an eerie gallery where each painting tells a sinister tale. That’s what this album represents. A collection of dark stories woven into dark and heavy music.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD?

We all contribute in different ways. Gene and I handle the instrumental stuff... riffs, drum arrangements, the whole songwriting. JD takes the lead on lyrics and storytelling. It’s a real team effort. And I guess that’s what makes our sound unique.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

Tough one... I really like them all. But if I had to choose, I’d say "Megalomania". That track is a total tribute to modern Iron Maiden. It’s got that epic vibe but with our own twist. A real cinematic feel. It’s one of those tracks where you can close your eyes and see the story unfold.

5. Is there a special message in this CD? If there is what it is?

Well, the line between justice and tyranny is incredibly thin nowadays. The truth is often buried, but someone will eventually dig deep enough to uncover it. That’s the energy we’re trying to capture with this album. Paranoia, resistance, and the relentless pursuit of truth. In a world full of lies and manipulation, it’s up to us to question everything and seek the truth, not just accept what we’re told...

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

Even the most upright man will crumble under the weight of gold bars...

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

The main inspiration behind the album’s concept was the idea of creating a horror story. I’ve always been drawn to that kind of dark, cinematic storytelling in metal. I love albums like Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son by Iron Maiden, The Dark Saga by Iced Earth, or Operation: Mindcrime by Queensryche. But beyond just telling a fictional story, we wanted to make it relevant to what’s happening in the world right now. We looked at the current political situation, the division, the lies, and manipulation, and tried to tie that into the narrative. The horror is not just in the story, but in the world we live in. It’s about how difficult it is to find the truth, how everyone is questioning what’s real, and what’s being fed to us. We really wanted the album to reflect that feeling of uncertainty and paranoia that’s out there today. It’s a reflection of what’s going on in the world, but with a horror twist to make it even more intense.
