Interviews: Age Of Fire
On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Heavy Metal band Age Of Fire from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Was it planned, or did it just happen organically?
I used to read a lot of books on religion and somewhere the Age of Fire was the period before the end of times. I thought it was a great band name.
2. Why did you choose to play this genre?
I grew up in the 80s, it was kind of inevitable. I first started playing the blues which I still love. AC/DC was the band (Angus especially) that made me want to play the guitar, which led me to Sabbath, and I'll never forget the night I heard Number of the Beast. I was hooked for life.
2. Did you know each other before forming the band?
That's a funny story. We both were in this other band at the same and different times. The funny bit was they played Reggae, Hip Hop, and Funk, all over. It was challenging and good people to jam with. I always like to expand my musical horizons.
4. What is each band member's favorite band?
Rick's (bass) is Thin Lizzy, Bill's is Rush, and I love Nevermore with Van Halen close behind.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
So many things. Life. History, literature, fantasy, politics, and current affairs mostly.
6. Where was your last gig?
We played in Richmond Virginia as part of a benefit concert right before Christmas to raise money and presents for Toys for Tots at a place called "Another Round Bar and Grill".
7. Where would you like to perform in the future?
Top of my list is Wacken. For me that is the dream.
8. Which artist or band would you like to collaborate with?
I would love to work with Jeff Loomis for sure. He has such a style and is so tasteful. I really admire his playing.
9. Is there anyone you wouldn’t want to collaborate with?
Not particularly
10. Have any of you ever experienced stage fright? Do you have any tips for beginners on overcoming it?
I used to get nasty stage fright. Studies show it has a lot to do with preparedness. Practice, practice, practice. For me now, when I hit the stage I know Rick and Bill have my back so I just aim everything forward. My suggestion for beginners is don't be in such a hurry. You only have one time to make a first impression. Get your songs down, Your showdown. Everyone is in such a hurry to post things on social media etc. Savor the journey.
11. Which bands have influenced you the most?
As a band, I'd say Metallica, Megadeth, Savatage, Overkill, Rush, Testament, Nevermore, too many.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Is this a family magazine? lol. I've signed various body parts which is always flattering. I've been gifted fan artwork which is so moving. People have been very cool, nothing I'd say was weird.
13. What do you think of your fans?
So grateful for the people who come to the shows and listen to our music. We love them!
14. What do you think of our site?
It's awesome. So cool what you are doing to promote metal to the masses. Great stuff!
15. Is there anything else you’d like to add?
