Interviews: Everlit
On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Hard Rock/Nu-Metal band Everlit from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or come out just like that?
We were actually in a previous band that went through a lineup change. On top of the lineup change, we brought in Taylor Larson as our new producer and developed a fresher sound, so it felt like the perfect time for a new name. 'Everlit' represents a fire reigniting from the embers of what came before—forever fueled by our passion for music.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Hard rock, nu-metal, and metal are just the main genres of music that we all grew up listening to. We also have a love for hip-hop, and you can hear that come through from time to time in our riffs, drum beats, and vocal melodies.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yeah, actually Ryan, Jordan, and I (Fidelity) came from a band that we started in high school, named Willpowerless. Before that band, Ryan and Jordan were brothers (and still are I believe LOL), and I met the Panfil bros through mutual friends, music, and skateboarding. Kyle was brought into our music family with the emergence of the Everlit project, where he fit right in like a long-lost brother.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Jake - Deftones.
Kyle - White Zombie.
Ryan - I don't really have a favorite band. My music obsessions change all the time. But if we're going to be an all-time favorite, I'd have to go with Deftones. You can always fall back on good old Deftones.
Jordan - Hard to say . . . I've probably listened to more Korn than any other band. But probably a 3-way tie between Korn, Deftones, and Machine Head.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
I find the most inspiration in deep thoughts and personal experiences, life events, struggles, moments of pain and happiness, love, the world around us, and the bigger questions about life, death, and our place in the universe. Through our music, I hope others can find comfort and strength in their struggles, knowing they're not alone.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was at the Broken Goblet for our hometown show in Bensalem, PA. We co-headlined with our friends in Fight the Fade.
7. Whom would you like to feature with?
Having a feature with Chino Moreno would be the ultimate for us being as we all love and grew up on the Deftones. We could also go nuts and have a feature with Nas or Andre 3000 to really tap into the hip-hop influences we love!
8. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Stage fright is something most musicians experience at some point. Some of us have felt it, especially in the early days, but over time, we learned to channel that nervous energy into excitement. The best advice for beginners is to be prepared—know your material inside and out. Also, remember that the audience wants you to succeed; they’re there to enjoy the music, not judge you. Take deep breaths, stay present in the moment, and most importantly, have fun. The more you perform, the more comfortable it gets!"
9. What bands have inspired you the most?
We have all been versatile with our music enjoyment and influences. We all love it all. We all let it all flow through us and into our music. There isn’t a genre where I can’t name someone absolutely amazing in it. But, I’d say some of the main influences on the Everlit project would be Deftones, Machine Head, Slipknot, Incubus, Chevelle, Korn, Taproot, 36 Crazyfists, Architects, The Doors, Being Me The Horizon, and others.
10. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
The weirdest thing a fan has asked me for was a rock paper, scissors match. The best part was the loser had to roll down a steep grassy bank into a parking lot. Thankfully I won and got to watch one very dedicated fan roll down a dangerously steep hill and spill out onto the pavement! No one was hurt and it was just a very memorable moment!
11. What do you think of your fans?
Everlit has always been about connection, and our fans are the heartbeat of everything we do. The energy, passion, and support they bring to every show, every release, and every interaction mean the world to us. We see them not just as fans, but as family—people who truly understand and share in the emotion and intensity of our music. Whether they're screaming the lyrics back at us, sharing our songs with friends, or even reaching out to say a song helped them through a tough point in their lives, it all fuels us to keep writing and pushing forward. We’re beyond grateful for every single one of them.
12. What do you think of our site?
We think it's metal AF! But seriously, it's definitely a valuable platform where listeners who are passionate about core music genres can find new music they love. You guys are awesome and we love that you're dedicated to showcasing both new and established acts.
13. Something you'd like to add?
Just that we're happy to have the chance to interview with you. We wish you and Breathing The Core the best of luck moving forward. Let's stay in touch and help spread metal music!
