Interviews: Nicolas de Renty
On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Metal artist Nicolas de Renty. Check out the interview and discover this artist!
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?
The name of the band is my own name because it’s a one-man project.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
There are many genres in that album, because I like to listen to many of them, and I’m naturally attracted to mixing them all.
Metal is mixed with classical music, choral, jazz improvisation, progressive rock and Gregorian chant.
3. Your favourite bands?
My favourite artists are J.S. Bach, John Coltrane and Chuck Schuldiner. Those are the main ones, but there are a lot more like Magma, King
Crimson, Unmercyfull, Origin, Monteverdi, Deeds of Flesh, Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms, Genesis, and Allan Holdsworth.
4. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
The words that I write: everything develops itself around the text. And the texts themselves are inspired by my own faith and disgust for this antichrist’s world. For the instrumental songs, it's the counterpoint that drives me: finding a good melody to
develop as in Metallifugue, which is a traditional fugue as in baroque music mixed with Metal sound. The band Mekong Delta
inspired me a lot for that.
5. Where was your last gig?
All my gigs are with other projects. But for this one, I still didn’t have some, because it’s hard to reproduce all this orchestral music
alone on stage. I think about it for the future, when I’ll be more able to use machines on stage.
6. Where would you like to act?
Wherever it’s possible to act.
7. Whom would you like to feature with?
Progressive bands (Rock or Metal).
8. Whom not?
Satanists and pagan bands, because this project is turned to God.
9. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
I have played on stage for around 30 years, in different styles such as jazz, opéra, rock, metal and many other things. There has always been some
stage fright before every concert, but it gives me more force during the show.
10. What bands have inspired you the most?
My favourite artists are J.S. Bach, John Coltrane and Chuck Schuldiner. Those are the main ones, but there are a lot more like Magma, King
Crimson, Unmercyfull, Origin, Monteverdi and many many others.
11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
I don’t remember.
12. What do you think of your fans?
Many thanks to give to them: thank you for entering my universe.
13. What do you think of our site?
Long live to you, and what a noble cause to push artists to be known.
14. Something add?
Glory to God, forever!
