Interviews: Spit On Your Grave

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Death Metal band Spit On Your Grave from Mexico. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Was it planned, or did it just happen organically?

The name is inspired by the 1978 film "I Spit On Your Grave" directed by Meir Zarchi.

2. Why did you choose to play this genre?

At the time, it was the music we liked the most, and we also wanted to combine femininity with the anger and aggression of death metal.

3. Did you know each other before forming the band?

Not really, only 2 out of 4 members were friends, the rest of us met through auditions.

4. What is each band member's favorite band?

It's hard to answer because we all have diverse tastes, and choosing one band is difficult, but Caro (Guitar) as long as it's Technical Death Metal, Nico (Drums) The Aristocrats, Eli (Bass) Napalm Death, Marlene (Vocals) Leprous, and Liz (Guitar) Worm.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Emotional processes, personal experiences, and the things we like in common.

6. Where was your last gig?

Monterrey with Left to Die.

7. Where would you like to perform in the future?

We're planning to go to Europe, hopefully soon.

8. Which artist or band would you like to collaborate with?

Behemoth

9. Is there anyone you wouldn’t want to collaborate with?

No

10. Have any of you ever experienced stage fright? Do you have any tips for beginners on overcoming it?

Yes, at the beginning, and still a bit, depending on the event. Our advice would be to just do it, and with experience and time, it will become easier.

11. Which bands have influenced you the most?

We've been influenced by so many bands, sounds, and genres that it would be hard to mention them all but some of them could be Hypocrisy, Meshugga, The Black Dahlia Murder, Behemoth, Leprous, Belphegor, Necrophagist, Napalm Death, Opeth.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To sign their butt.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They're the best thing that can happen to any artist, to have someone share your art and enjoy what you do is the goal.

14. What do you think of our site?

We think it's great, the best part is that it gives bands exposure and somehow leaves a mark on those who read it.

15. Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Thank you for your interest in our band and for the interview. Support your local bands!
