Behind The Artworks: Fugue State – In The Lurch (2025)

Shane Bruno: The cover photo was taken a few years ago by my partner, Leslie, who also printed the cyanotypes for the front and back. It's of Jon and me picking through the rubble of a historic bowling alley in Pittsfield that was demolished to make way for a weed dispensary that was ultimately never built, and remains a vacant lot to this day. There was a lot of back-and-forth discussion about what should go on the cover, and ultimately we decided this photo and the story behind it was a good visual representation of the vibe we were going for. The rear cover features some photos of the band taken by Lex DiMaio at a NYC gig we played last year. The jacket is meant to evoke the aesthetic of some of those old Impulse jazz records from the 60s, I always loved that kind of graphic design.
