Behind The Tracks: Beware Of Gods - Temple Of Thieves (Single) (2025)

Jason O’Donnell (aka The Archetype): ‘Temple Of Thieves’ is the last song on Beware Of Gods upcoming album ‘Upon Whom The Last Light Descends PT II : Amnesia Island’. It was released as a single 2/21/25 & is definitely a stand out track on the album. This song started out one way & ended up heavier, more progressive & riffs were altered to better fit Kellii Scott’s drums. Kellii Scott (Failure) is a master of creating plodding, behind the beat grooves & his style of playing with my riffs usually will elicit appropriate edits. In the case of ‘Temple Of Thieves’ it became an almost entirely different song. The guitar is tuned from drop standard C to the ‘devil’s interval’ which opened up tremendous options for reworking the original riffs and melodies. Lyrically there’s no getting around the Biblical references which, for me, are as Doom as it gets. Just ask Geezer Butler. This concept album is as much about retribution as it is redemption & ‘Temple Of Thieves’ is the protagonist of the narrative, I Nomad’s coming out if you will against corrupt, evil forces (the wolves of the evening) ruling over the Island.
