Interviews About Albums: Dimhall - Himlakroppar (2025)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Swedish Metal band Dimhall to ask questions about their album, "Himlakroppar".

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

Since we recorded and mixed our last single Vinternatt ourselves, We came to the conclusion to do the same for this EP. We started recording in May 2024 where we first spent 4 days recording all the instruments like drums, guitar, and bass. All the backtracks had already been written before. We spent two days in July recording all the vocals, one day for all the clean vocals, and one day for all the harsh vocals. Our guitarist Jakob Pålbrink has been our producer for this EP as well as the last single. He spent the autumn and winter mixing this EP. I (Ludvig) spent the summer making the artwork for the EP as well as the merch artwork.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

Himlakroppar translates from Swedish to "Celestial Bodies". As the two songs Tvenne Solar and Mångatan relate to the sun and the moon respectively, it was fitting with that title.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

I (Ludvig) am the composer of all our songs and our singer Emil Hannu is the lyricist.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

It's hard picking one song as they are so different in tone and vibe. If you like uptempo Melodeath/Power Metal, I would pick Tvenne Solar. If you like downtempo, emotional Doom Metal with some Post Rock influences, I would pick Mångatan.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

The special message of this EP could be how to feel loved (romantically and/or platonically) and how it can swallow you. It can be seen as both something beautiful as well as something toxic

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

For this EP (as well as our single Vinternatt), Emil wrote the lyrics in Swedish. Some of my personal favorite lyrics from this EP are from the chorus of Tvenne Solar:

"Sagorna siade en plats, en euforisk dröm

Fantasin i oändligt hopp.

Där hjärtat finner frid, skuggor slår i blom

Och tomheten ska glömmas bort"

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

Musically, the influences on this EP depend on the song. For Tvenne Solar, I was inspired by bands like Amorphis and (early) Equilibrium as well as JRPG soundtracks like Final Fantasy (especially 13), Tales of, and Falcom games. For Mångatan, I was inspired by bands like Swallow the Sun, Katatonia, Hanging Garden, Alcest and The Mission
