Interviews: The Bloody Hell

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Horror Punk band The Bloody Hell from Canada. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or came out like that?

It was the classic situation of sitting around trying to think of a name, with everyone throwing out suggestions. Then I suggested The Bloody Hell, and it instantly clicked. I know its a common saying in some parts of the world akin to "What the Fuck" but we always meant it in the literal way, with images of a blood soaked hell. When asked what The Bloody Hell is, I usually respond with "it's what I have to endure"

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

It was never really a choice, it's just how it ends up sounding, if I could write music like a prog band I would, but the stuff that I write is simple and honest, we play loud and fast, it's punk rock I guess

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I've known Joe (bass) for a long time and we had played together a few times before this band. The other guys I met through the band/music scene

4. Each band member's favourite band?

My all-time favorite band is Nirvana or Pink Floyd. Opposite I know but they are the bands I love the most. I know James’ favorite band when he was young was Pantara, not sure about now. Joe's favorite band might be cannibal corpse, or Deicide, maybe, or Priest, I'm not sure honestly. And I’d put money on Andrew’s favorite bands being ZZ Top or Mastodon. Ben loves Radiohead and Jazz fusion stuff. Complex music

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I get my inspiration from life mostly. I tend to write about situations I've been in or observations about life / the world. I try to focus on storytelling in my lyrics, so most of the songs have a theme and that theme is always drawn from my personal experiences. Not EVERY song but at least 90% of them

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was in Halifax, NS at a wonderful pub called Gus’. Was the single release show for -Feel It Too - single with a bunch of our closest friends in the scene. The venue is small but mighty and it was a hell of a party

7. Where would you like to act?

I always want to play festivals, especially summer festivals. I just love the vibe and atmosphere of a good summer festival, a great place to meet bands and fans

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

I’d love to sing on a Whores. tune, I think my voice and vibe would fit their music well. Hit me up @ Whores.

9. Whom not?

No butt metal

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Yeah I still get a little nervous before a big show, but the best way to get over it is to practice and be confident in your abilities and your songs. It doesn't happen overnight, so you have to work hard at it

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

All the bands I've mentioned above, for sure, we all like different music so hopefully we find a way to mesh all the influences together in a cool and unique way. The misfits would be another big inspiration on the ban,d as well, bands with good lyrics and catchy songs

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

An autograph haha, cringy

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love our fans of course, the support of our fans means everything to us, it's amazing every time someone buys an album or wears our merch or just likes our social media posts. In a small,  heavy community like Halifax, you know most of the scene, so your fans become your friends and your friends become your fans, we have no but love and respect for our fans

14. What do you think of our site?

Pretty sweet, the music industry and people like me thank you greatly for helping us get our music and message to the world, you fucking rock !!!

15. Something to add?

I hope anyone that is checking out our band will also check out our music videos. We focus on storytelling in our songs and our music videos add a great visual component to those stories. Add to the experience
