Interviews: Omega Purge
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Metal/Melodic Death Metal/Thrash Metal/Melodic Metal band Omega Purge from Germany. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Was it planned, or did it just happen
organically?
Hey, this is Kai from Omega Purge! Great to be here, and thanks for the question! The name Omega
Purge symbolizes the end of an era and the destruction of the old to make way for something new.
"Omega" represents the final stage, while "Purge" signifies a violent cleansing or reckoning.
The name ties into the themes of downfall, rebellion, and transformation that we explore in our
music. It wasn’t something that just happened randomly—we put a lot of thought into it because we
wanted a name that reflects both our sound and our message.
2. Why did you choose to play this genre?
We’ve always been drawn to intense, powerful music that blends raw aggression with deep emotion.
Thrash and melodic death metal allow us to express a wide range of emotions—from fury and chaos
to melancholy and introspection. The genre also gives us the freedom to experiment with heavy riffs,
haunting melodies, and storytelling, which is exactly what we wanted to achieve with Omega Purge.
3. Did you know each other before forming the band?
Some of us crossed paths in the local scene, and others we met through mutual friends. Once we
started playing together, it was clear that the chemistry was there. Our newest member, Marcus,
was previously the vocalist in my former band, Dying Humanity, but he had always wanted to play an
instrument in a band as well. When the opportunity came up, it just felt like the right fit—both
musically and personally. Now, everything has fallen into place perfectly!
4. What is each band member's favorite band?
We all have slightly different influences, but some favorites include:
Kai (Vocals/Guitar): Iron Maiden, Death, Sylosis
Martin: Immortal, Crowbar, Ahab
Sönke: Year of the Goat, Halphas, Toto
Marcus: Whitechapel, Behemoth, Cypecore
Our different influences blend together, shaping our unique sound.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
A mix of history, dystopian literature, and real-world events. Books like 1984 and Brave New World,
the French Revolution, and apocalyptic themes all inspire our lyrics. Musically, we take inspiration
from bands like Death, Metallica, and Gojira, as well as visual influences like Marvel’s Knowhere and
Albrecht Dürer’s Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was on February 22nd, and it was a special one—it was our Record Release Show for The
Last Monarch’s Fall! The energy that night was absolutely insane, and you could feel the excitement
in the crowd. Seeing people lose themselves in the music, headbanging, and moshing to our new
material was an unforgettable experience.
We put everything into that performance—tight, crushing riffs, raw energy, and a heavy
atmosphere—and the crowd responded in the best way possible. It was one of those nights where
everything just clicked perfectly, and it truly felt like the beginning of a new chapter for Omega
Purge.
Now, we can’t wait to hit the stage again and bring this intensity to even more cities and festivals!
7. Where would you like to perform in the future?
We’re always looking for opportunities to play as much as possible, whether it’s clubs, festivals, or
supporting bigger acts. Of course, playing at some of the biggest European metal festivals like
Wacken Open Air, Hellfest, and Bloodstock would be a dream come true.
Beyond that, we’d love to take our music to other European countries and beyond, bringing our
sound to new audiences and experiencing different metal scenes. The energy and passion for heavy
music around the world are incredible, and we want to be part of that as much as possible. Wherever
there’s a crowd ready for our heavy music, we’re there!
8. Which artist or band would you like to collaborate with?
If we could choose anyone from metal history, working with Chuck Schuldiner would have been an
absolute honor. His vision and influence on death metal were groundbreaking, and collaborating with
him would have been an unforgettable experience.
From today’s scene, a collaboration with Trivium, Sylosis, or Gojira would be incredible. Each of these
bands brings a unique blend of technicality, heaviness, and melody that aligns with what we’re
striving for. Trivium’s ability to mix aggression with massive choruses, Sylosis’ intricate riffing, and
Gojira’s raw power and atmosphere would make for an absolutely crushing combination.
9. Is there anyone you wouldn’t want to collaborate with?
We don’t like to rule anything out from the start, as every collaboration has the potential to bring
something new and interesting to the table. That being said, we wouldn’t want to work with anyone
who doesn’t take their music seriously or lacks passion for their craft. For us, music is about raw
emotion, dedication, and authenticity—if someone isn’t fully invested in what they do, it just
wouldn’t be the right fit. A collaboration should feel natural and inspiring, not forced.
10. Have any of you ever experienced stage fright? Do you have any tips for beginners on
overcoming it?
Absolutely—it’s normal, especially in the beginning. The key to overcoming stage fright is:
1. Rehearse until everything feels effortless—muscle memory is your best friend.
2. Control your breathing—deep breaths help calm your nerves.
3. Focus on the music, not the crowd—once you get into the song, everything else
disappears.
4. Remember: The audience wants you to succeed—they’re there to enjoy the show, not to
judge you.
Once you’ve played a few gigs, confidence kicks in, and you learn to feed off the energy instead of
fearing it.
11. Which bands have influenced you the most?
As the main songwriter, my biggest influences come from old-school death and thrash metal bands
like Death, Monstrosity, Metallica, Morbid Angel, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, and Machine Head. I also
draw a lot of inspiration from modern heavyweights like Trivium, Sylosis, and Gojira.
We take elements from both classic and contemporary metal to forge our own unique
sound—blending aggression, melody, and technicality in a way that feels true to our vision.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
We’ve had some strange requests, but one of the weirdest was when a fan asked us to sign their
belly with a permanent marker. To this day, we’re still not sure if the marks are still there!
13. What do you think of your fans?
We love our fans—they are the reason we do this! Seeing people connect with our music, whether
it’s through lyrics, energy, or emotions, is what keeps us going. We appreciate every single person
who supports us, comes to our shows, and shares our music.
14. What do you think of our site?
It’s great! Your site looks very professional and modern, and it’s awesome to see platforms like yours
helping underground and rising bands reach new audiences. We truly appreciate the support and the
effort you put into keeping the metal scene alive and thriving!
15. Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Yes—thank you for the interview and for supporting Omega Purge! We’ve put everything into The
Last Monarch’s Fall, and we hope listeners connect with its themes, riffs, and raw emotion.
See you on the road—let the metal flow!
