Interviews: Rising Alma
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Rock/Metal band Rising Alma from Germany. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or came out like that?
We started writing songs before even having a name. So the idea for the name came from a song we wrote early. The song was about rising up and starting again and freeing your soul. With Alma meaning soul in Spanish. Máximo had a clever moment with wordplay, combining the first two letters of Alīse and Máximo to create Rising Alma.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Alise: I was always feeling the urge to create something of mine, and it wasn´t clear what it was for sure until I heard P.O.D. song goodbye for now in 2018.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Alīse and Máximo knew each other before forming the band, while Alican and Johnathan joined the band later.
4. Each band member's favourite band?
Alise: P.O.D. (Payable on death),
Jonathan: All time favourite: TOTO. Currently favourite band: Sleep Token
Máximo: Creed
Alican: Judas Priest
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Alise: The way music helped me through tough times inspired me to write. I wanted others to experience the same sense of hope that I found through it.
Máximo: For me, I will always listen to music that means something to me, regardless of its “quality”. And that feeling when you listen to something meaningful is exactly what inspires me. I as well just aspire to write songs that hopefully mean something to someone rather than just good sounding music.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was at Die Klinke in Berlin.
7. Where would you like to act?
Like every band, we dream about playing big gigs, like a Stadium or a Festival. But honestly, we’re open to playing anywhere, whether it's a small or big stage. We’re a live band, and we thrive on that energy.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Of course, our first choice would be to play with the bands that inspired us to create rock music
9. Whom not?
We wouldn’t want to play with bands with a message we don’t support. We have a clear head about what’s wrong and what’s right. And we will always stand up for our ideas.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
Alise: I was a shy kid, so I never really wanted to be in the spotlight. But with Rising Alma, I don’t experience stage fright because I feel like I’m part of something bigger than myself.
Jonathan: The last time I experienced stage fright was when I was performing in the music university. To perform in front of teachers and other students creates more pressure than other gigs!
11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Not really weird but one of our fans asked us once what our favourite colour was. It turned out it was just to make a tattoo with our name in that colour. That was really amazing for us cause it was also the first time a fan got a tattoo of Rising Alma. Thanks Stacy!
12. What do you think of your fans?
They are the reason we do what we do!
13. What do you think of our site?
This is the second time we are featured in your website and we love it.
14. Something to add?
We just signed with Sliptrick Records and in a couple of weeks our new album Cracking The Moment is coming out. So if you don’t want to miss it, you can follow us on social media for the latest news and stay up to date.
