Track By Tracks: Matricide - RED (2025)

1. RED:

This song speaks of humanity’s struggle to understand its own existence.

At the beginning of the song, the protagonist is searching for meaning or purpose in life but finds none, leading him to question whether his existence even matters. He wonders if taking his own life would make any difference.

In the climax of the song (and throughout the choruses), he ultimately decides to end his life.

The inspiration for this song came from a general curiosity about the universe. I believe this is a thought that crosses everyone’s mind at some point - Why am I here? Does life have meaning or purpose? Even the contemplation of taking one’s own life is something many people face.

2.anyMORe:

This song deals with tragedy and how to cope with it. It conveys the idea that, no matter what happens, there’s always someone in your life you can count on, and there is no shame in asking for help.

The idea for the song came to me while consoling an ex-girlfriend. She was telling me about the hardships she was facing, and as I gave her advice, I said, "You know, this could make a good song." She agreed, and so I began writing anyMORe.

The title is a reflection of her name, and I felt it was fitting - especially since she passed away this year.

3. SMOKE & MIRRORS:

This song is about betrayal, karma, and cutting toxic people out of my life.

The person in the song is actually a culmination of several people who were once part of my life. It starts with a liar - someone who never shows their true face and pretends to be more than they really are. The song goes on to describe this same person trying to gaslight me and shift the blame onto me.

In the breakdown, I say that karma will catch up with them and that I am done with them. "You can be as you are - just not with me."

The choruses emphasize that I see through them and know who they really are.

4.OBEY:

This song is a dialogue between the ruling elite and the masses (the middle class).
Most of the song focuses on reclaiming power from corrupt governing entities and highlights how true change is only possible if the masses unite instead of being divided by the ruling 1%.

In the chorus, we hear the voice of a dictator preaching about freedom and equality - yet only delivering these privileges to himself. The entire chorus is an oxymoron; the lines "THINK FOR YOURSELF" and "REPEAT AFTER ME" contradict each other, symbolizing how even his speech manipulates and divides people with false promises and hollow slogans.

In the bridge, we hear the voice of a protester delivering a blunt and honest truth: this corrupt government has no intention of improving life for the middle class, and the only way to change that is to take it down.

The inspiration for this song comes from many sources - just living in Israel provides an abundance of them. However, the main influences for both the song and its music video stem from Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut.

5. SHEEP TO THE SLAUGHTER:

This song compares the 9-to-5 workforce to animals in the meat industry. It critiques how money rules the world, corporate greed outweighs human rights, and a decent standard of living is denied to many.

6. WALK INTO THE FLAMES:

This song is about growth and self-improvement. In order to become a better person, you must "kill" the person you were yesterday.

7. TALKING TO THE WALLS:

This song questions the existence of God. If he is real, does he actually watch, listen, guide, or judge us in our day-to-day lives?
