Behind The Tracks: Gurnslinger - The Lizards (Single) (2025)

Bissell: The Lizards was the first song we wrote together as a band. We’ve quite a diverse range of influences individually which you can hear in the track; stoner, psychedelia, punk, 70s rock, etc. It unintentionally became the blueprint for how the band would sound; a beast not easy to categorize.

 

I hate writing lyrics so my logic has always been to stick to what you know. The band at the time were obsessed with the movie Fury Road, so that became the thesis for the tune and then what would become the whole record. Luckily Spars is also in the band and he writes great lyrics.

 

Ironically, what was our ode to the world of Mad Max now seems to be turning into a real life observation of the impending end of days. But just who are the lizards?
