Interviews About Albums: BELLHEAD - Threats (2025)
In this new interview, we sat down with the American Post-Punk band BELLHEAD to ask questions about their album, "Threats".
1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?
Karen: I’m really proud of this release. I think musically it shows a lot of growth from the two of us, and we really tried to come up with something fresh. We hope everyone enjoys it as much as we enjoyed writing and recording it.
2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?
Ivan: ‘Threats’ speaks for itself. Karen said, “I’m done being nice” and I told her, “I was never nice”.
3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?
Ivan: All songs are 100% written by the two of us. They are all collaborative in different states. Some songs Karen sends me a bass line, and I work up a song around it. Other times, I get stuck with ¾ of a song I like, and Karen fills in the rest. All the songs spend time in the rehearsal space being played and adjusted by tempo, length, and arrangement. It’s very collaborative, and no one is precious with their ideas. This is the first time Karen has written lyrics of her own for one of her parts, and I am very excited about that.
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
Karen: Although “Threats” is our first single off the release, I really love “Heart Shaped Hole”- it was a fun one to write and collaborate on.
5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?
Ivan: If there is a special message, and there might be, I’m not going to tell you. It’s special to the listener; you will have to find out for yourself.
6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?
Ivan - Death. We went through personal losses that resulted in emotional outbursts. Mourning has a way with words and song. The record is not about death. It’s not that one-dimensional. Death, she is the progenitor of the work.
