Interviews: Ancestor Of Kaos

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Black Metal band Ancestor Of Kaos from Cuba/ the USA. Check out this interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Hi, and thank you for the interview! We formed as Ancestor and used that name from 2005 to 2015, then changed to Ancestor of Kaos due to other bands using the same name. We are inspired by bands that played this music many years ago, and our name is a tribute to that.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Black Metal is the sound of our generation and the style that fits our way of life.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I (Joel, guitar) played with Alcides the drummer in another band around 2002, our vocalist Jorge was now our bass player from 2014 to 2022, and Luis the bass player came and joined us in 2023.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

Jorge - Motörhead

Joel - Slayer

Luis - Bathory

Alcides - Napalm Death

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We like to write songs about liberty and death

6. Where was your last gig?

We just played a show opening for Belphegor, Arkona, and Vale of Pnath here in Las Vegas

7. Where would you like to act?

Would really like to play in Europe soon! Also, Latin American and maybe someday back in Cuba when the regime falls

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

It would be great to play with bands like Rotting Christ and Marduk.

9. Whom not?

It’s always fun to share the stage with bands from different styles

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

To overcome those fears, you just have to start doing it every day, make it part of your life so you always see the same person when you look in the mirror

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Darkthrone, Slayer, Death, Mayhem, Dissection … our vocalist is also very influenced by the punk and hardcore scene

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

“Hey guys can I use some of your make up”

13. What do you think of your fans?

We are fans ourselves. Here in the underground, we are all the same Wolfpack.

14. What do you think of our site?

Every promotional effort is always welcomed. I remember when we used to write letters to fanzines and send them all around the world, it’s great when we found those same people now doing the same thing on the internet
