Interviews: Executionist

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Thrash Metal band Executionist from the USA. Check out this interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it or come out like that?  

The band started off as brothers Brett and Tristan, so we were always bickering over band names. We both liked the name “Executioner,” but there were so many bands with that name already, and we wanted to keep the word execution in there somewhere. So we just did some brainstorming and landed on Executionist.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?  

We started the band at a young age, and our introduction to metal was Metallica. Listening to Metallica then stemmed to Slayer, Exodus, and Kreator. We started to love the thrash genre, so we did not outwardly say we were going to play and write thrash metal; it just happened.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?  

Brett and Tristan are brothers, so yes, but no to the other members, Mike and Austin.

4. Each band member's favourite band?  

Mike - Children of Bodom.

Austin - Alkaline Trio

Brett - Invicta

Tristan - Death

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs? 

Writing songs started just because we thought it was fun, but the drive to continue and better ourselves came from seeing others succeed and wanting that for ourselves. Going to shows and seeing bands perform in front of crowds drove us to do better. Despite the appeal of success, all of our music has come from a place of love.

6. Where was your last gig?  

The Loud in Huntington, WV, on January 25th was our last show. 

7. Where would you like to act?  

We would love to perform at 123 Pleasant Street in Morgantown, WV. A bucket list venue would be the Whiskey A Go Go.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?  

As far as live performances go, we would love to play a show with Warbringer. We are in talks about doing a collaborative recording with our friends in a local band called OniKuma.

9. Whom not?  

We are open to working with just about anybody as long as they are not terrible people!

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?  

All four of us get stage fright before every show. There is no real advice we can give, just because the only way to get over it is to bite the bullet and go out there and do what you do best!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?  

Too many to say, but the big ones are Kreator, Children of Bodom, and Death.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for? 

Someone once asked Austin for the socks he was actively wearing after he had finished performing. Additionally, Tristan was asked to sign the back of a Polaroid picture of someone’s grandparents.

13. What do you think of your fans?  

We think they are amazing! It means a lot to rural West Virginia guys like us to have the support of these fans.

14. What do you think of our site? 

We think Breathing the Core is a really sick site! We really appreciate the inclusion of the bands' Bandcamp pages. We also appreciate the opportunity to be included in a sick site such as this!

We are so grateful for the recent support of the single release and the album announcement. We hope our music continues to reach as many ears as possible!
