Track By Tracks: Watching The Abyss - Watching The Abyss (2025)
‘Watching the Abyss’ is our debut album, our way of introducing ourselves to the world.
We decided that this record would be self-titled to express the strong identity of the band, how
deeply we identify with the work we’ve created, and because we want our listeners to feel like they
are part of our big family.
The album was born from a long journey, with songs written at different moments in our
history—some before the pandemic, others afterward. This has resulted in a musical path that
reflects our growth, both as individuals and as a band. Each track represents a stage in this
evolution, a musical narrative of the experiences that have shaped us.
The foundation of this record is the people who wrote it and the friendship that has united them for
years. The bond between us as band members is genuinely a friendship built over time, and the
harmony that connects us is infused into every song on the album. Despite their diversity in sound
and atmosphere, all the tracks manage to come together into something unique.
We wanted to enjoy the release of this record, unveiling it gradually over time. In November 2023,
we dropped our first single, “LIKE WAVES”, and we naturally started from the end—the closing
track of the album.
We continued to release singles at a steady pace, with “Gravity,” “When the Light Goes Out,”
“HUMANKIND,” and finally “Nemesis” alongside the album’s official release.
Through this approach, we wanted our listeners to embark on a journey, allowing them to
experience the band's evolution and new facets with each release while welcoming new people to
join us along the way.
As for the meaning behind the album, it can be seen as a cathartic journey that the listener
experiences alongside the protagonists of each song. It delves into different types of traumas and
passions that overwhelm us, ultimately leading us to "stare into the abyss."
“HUMANKIND” explores the primal nihilistic feeling that resides within every human
being.
“Gravity” tells the story of the fear of not being in control of one’s own destiny.
“When the Light Goes Out” reflects on how easily we can be manipulated by the
judgment of others.
“Carthago” uses the story of Aeneas and Dido to illustrate how love can be dangerous.
“Nemesis” is a cry of pain from those who find their greatest enemy within themselves.
“Gold” examines how social media has made us even more enslaved to societal judgment.
However, it all ends with “LIKE WAVES”, our way of telling people that our weaknesses are not
limitations but rather a driving force to overcome any obstacle and become better versions of
ourselves.
Musically, the album alternates between melodic sections and aggressive riffs, with a strong
presence of breakdowns—elements that are also reflected in the vocal lines.
Our sound builds upon the evolution of early 2000s alternative metal, incorporating influences
from subgenres like metalcore, nu-metal, and more.
The songs were recorded at Kaboom Studio by Luca Pretorius, while the mixing and mastering
were handled by Jarno Bellasio from Theorem Studio.
This is just the beginning. We have many projects in the works, and soon we’ll be announcing live
dates to bring this story to the stage.
Thank you to everyone who chooses to be part of this album, to those who will appreciate it, and
even to those who will simply move on.
The Abyss is Watching You.
