Track By Tracks: Wurmian - Immemorial Shrine (2025)
1. Aeon afterglows:
The opening song, which encompasses all the elements and influences of the album – Melodic Death
Metal and Death Doom. This duality creates rhythmic breaks that contribute to the song's dynamics.
The lyrics are inspired by humanity's inability to find its way in the universe and the fact that it gets
lost in the twists and turns of madness.
2. Immemorial Shrine:
It is a song that features both energetic, fast-paced sections and calmer, ethereal, melodic parts. This
duality was intentionally created to offer sustained variations in tempo and rhythm. It incorporates
all the codes of the style. It is the song that gave its name to the album: in this way, it most
accurately reflects the entire album
3. Haven:
Perhaps the most catchy song on the album, with repetitive and easily recognizable melodic riffs. It
maintains a relatively fast pace for the style but also allows space for ethereal transitions, enhanced
by the use of clean guitar sounds and the incorporation of synthesizers. The lyrics deal with the
timeless fears that the mind must face on a daily basis.
4. Spires Of Sorrow:
The song that truly links the album to a Melodic Death Metal style: the riffs that follow one another
are inspired by the Scandinavian wave of the '90s and the "No Fashion Records" school. It is placed at
the heart of the album to offer a new dynamic and sets a new rhythm for the second half of the
album. The lyrics speak of the distress caused by abandonment, the fact that humanity is solely
dependent on itself, with no supernatural force looming above.
5. Yearning Unseen:
It is a rather hypnotic song with relatively laid-back, even heavy riffs that follow and repeat. It also
blends influences from various sources and different styles. The second half of the song features
more dynamic rhythms characteristic of Melodic Death Metal with palm-muted and lead guitars.
6. Sleeping Giants:
It is a song with a slower pace than the previous ones, perhaps following a more classic structure
associated with the Death Doom scene of the early '90s. The structure consists of a repetition of
relatively ethereal parts, allowing the listener to take the time to absorb the atmosphere. The lyrics
are closely tied to time and evoke the torpor of sleeping giants, or in other words, mountain ranges,
and the human condition in comparison to their immortality.
7. The Everflowing Stream:
The album's finale, a song that incorporates all the previously described elements: melodies,
technicality, atmospheres, and melancholy. Its final riff stretches out to create a sustained, hypnotic
atmosphere to close both the song and the album. The lyrics align with this forward rush, that of an
ongoing race against time, which passes by at full speed.
